ffîn presents… Ynys, Mother Said and Lola Simms

Ynys' (Island) ambitious sound palette combines melancholic harmonies over a soundtrack of 80’s sequencers, 70’s string machines, and fuzz guitars. From Aberystwyth, on the west coast of Wales, Ynys released their debut album on Libertino Records in late 2022 and their recent album 'Dosbarth Nos' (Night Class) was released 12 July 2024. An album of off-kilter catchy and melancholic psychedelic pop songs, the release generated glowing reviews across the likes of The Line of Best Fit, Brooklyn Vegan, and God Is In the TV, followed up with appearances at Other Voices, FOCUS Wales, and SŴN, alongside live sessions for BBC 6 Music's Marc Riley show, and Amazing Radio.

Mother Said is a Leeds-Based alternative art rock 5 piece. Taking inspiration from the original post-punk and new wave to create a blend of the absurd, political and dark. Infusing heavier classic punk lyricism with rock and roll undertones they create female riot with purpose. They formed in 2022 and were chosen as one of the ‘best of the year’ 2023 by BBC Introducing Leeds and Sheffield, frequently featuring on their channel for live performances and music debuts.

Pairing intricate guitar parts in unique tunings with delicate vocals and thought-provoking lyrics, Lola Simms captivates listeners with her often soul-baring songs. Sitting within the indie-folk genre, the 22 year old artist hailing from the North East is heavily influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Flyte and Adrianne Lenker.
